New Cpu

Hi, i was wondering if you could help me with my pc, I'm hoping to upgrade to the amd phenom ii x4 965 black edition. I was wondering with my specs and mainly my motherboard. Can i use it ?

Asus doesn't h\ave it on their list, but honestly, the 965 is a waste of money.. I'd go with the 955BE at 109. As it'll be nearly as fast at stock, and oc pretty much the same speed.

You will need a bios update before it'll work though.

Why am i such a fool. I never check these things before i buy. It's arriving tomorrow and i'm seeing in places that it does and doesn't.... I'm wondering wether it's worth me trying it ?

the mobo looks like a bottleneck to me. try to balance your system. also take into account your hard drive and RAM. if they're slow, you whole system will be slow!

Hey just to let you all know, i am now running the phenom 2 x4 965 BE without any faults and working flawless! if you think i should post the link to the forum i used (absolutely ram packed with info about the m2n32 and the m2n-sli deluxe motherboards) let me know.

Yha, I honesdtly couldn't think of a reason why it wouldn't run theyre basically the same chip... but as the 955 and 965 both clock the same, its cheAPer to get the 955 and oc it to the 965.

Glad your switch went fine and most of all you like the resualts.

I know this is an old post, but like a5hm, I'm upgrading to an AMD x4 965 w/ same MOBO. I even bought the same HD 5830 card

Glad to hear everythin's running well w/ your rig! Can you tell me what BIOS you are using..... there seems to be contradicting info about M2N SLI MOBO - Phenom II x4 965 and BIOS support all over the forums,

Hi there, all i can say is your lucky i checked my emails :P. I'm using bios 5001 and still have the same mobo :P. If you run into any problems along the way i'd be more than happy to assist. Take care until next time. Ash.

It's VERY nice to finally hear from someone who is running (almost) the same rig.
Based on my MOBO, had been wondering if I had made a mistake going w/ the x4 965.
Sweet.... flash w/ the 5001 BIOS, cross my fingers and let er rip!!!
