I bought a set of speakers for my laptop and in the process of trying to get them to work I seem to have somehow disabled my internal speaker. Now my computer keeps telling me that I have no audio output device installed. I'm not sure how to get things working again - either the newly purchased external speakers or the internal one which has worked just fine up until now.
right click the ''computer'' icon in your start bar & select ''properties'' this will bring up your system info, in the top left hand corner you'll see the ''device manager'' go there.
once this opens any H/W which has been disabled or lacks a driver will have a ''caution'' triangle next to it......
go to ....''sound, video & game controllers'' this is where you'll have the ability to enable this H/W or update the driver..
hopefully its just disabled itself & its simply a case of switching it back on...
Hi, i have the same problem as heather. when i go onto the device manager there is no sound and games thing or audio driver to try to fix. it just keeps on saying when i hover the mouse over the sound icon it says 'no audio output device is installed'. i have a windows vista, (obviously) and can anyone plz help me?
Make sure you have something plugged in, too. I have "No Audio Output Device is installed" if I have no speakers, headphones, or microphones plugged in.
