No sound after resuming from sleep mode

Whenever i turn the computer on after it has been asleep the sound will not play. It will not play in WMP 11 or in itunes 8. It also says that the test for the sound cant play. Then when you go into the sound control panel it says no audio devices are installed. I have installed the newest driver I could find and it still does it. The thing is, if I restart (the computer) the sound works fine. Or if i install the driver it works fine until the computer goes to sleep.

I have vista Home Premium x64 (service pack 1), AMD Phenom Quad, Nvidia 9800GT video card, Asus M2N-SLI 560 Nforce motherboard, 4 gigs of ram, and the built in sound card is a c-media cm6501. If you need to know more let me know.

thanks

jeremy

Sounds like the drivers for your sound are not loading when the computer resumes from sleeping.

I might just go out and buy a sound card for the computer, but I heard nothing works very well with vista x64. If anyone has any suggestions for a sound card under $100 let me know. Hopefully the problem wont continue with a new sound card.

Also is no one else having this problem?

Thanks

Jeremy

Do you guys think a sound card would fix this. If you do, what would you suggest for for vista x64? I was looking at the cheap sb audigy SE, any opinions?. I do some gaming but not a whole lot.

Also, is anyone else having this problem?

Jeremy

Same problem with here too. I pretty much know why, since I had to backup everything, some stuff will not work. Even my soundcard is not working well. I'm just a bit worried. If you have a solution that would be great. I just need to know how to get my soundcard back to normal. Proper Grammar would be useful. Thank You if you have a solution and posted it.
