Vista Home Premium 32-bit SP2 IE9

Brief history.....
I re-installed Vista from scratch 2 days ago.
From Vista iso > bootable DVd > reinstall > updates > Sp1 > SP2.

details of my adventure can be read in this 2 links :

Now everything is back to normal EXCEPT there is no sound. There was no sound since I re-installed. I let it slide and continued on to SP2 installation and IE9.
There is no Windows sounds, and no sound in playing music UNLESS I plug in the headset.

I have checked ....
the volume, of course
the level settings in Playback, Record, on the Speakers. They are on high.
Microsoft Fix It appliction on No Sound. No help.

Any ideas ?

Oh, I did go to Device Manager and checked the Sound, Video and game controllers section. All updated. No yellow exclamation marks.

Biggest question I have is, have you set the speakers, or the anolog out as the active/default device.

So go to the sounds control panel, and ensure the speakers are default.

Set Default button is grayed out.

I have a Win 7 computer. The Set Default button is also grayed out.

How to activate it ?

Updating....

Matter resolved.
Do not know exactly how.
I inserted the Dell Drivers and Utilities disc that came with my Dell computer > noticed a Sound driver section ( not the exact name )>unzipped it > opened it > ran the Wizard to install a driver that I recognized before > reboot > hey, Presto !

Just to add to this, "Set to default" is grayed, as the green check mark indicated it is already set as default.

Also, I assumed you added all your drivers, The yellow ! is only for problems... Windows makes it work, just not full functioning.
