Office clipart shows WAV icons in Vista, but not XP

Through all the sites I've checked looking for a solution, the only people who have said something worked were people who were on a corporate network or had group policies in place. I know nothing of group policies so I wouldn't know if one had been set by something else on my computer. I don't know what group policy would make sense to have files misidentified anyway. They still work. It's just the icons are screwed up. It's weird.

Along those lines there is group policy editor but it is only on Vista pro, ultimate, and enterprise so that wouldn't be applicable to your situation. I'm not sure what else I can do to help.

I've corrected the PhotoSnapViewer problem. I reinstalled Nero and then uninstalled it using Nero's Clean Utility, then I did a search for every remaining entry of PhotoSnapViewer, ShowTime, Nero, Ahead, and CoverDes. I deleted all of them that were relevant and NOT part of something completely different. JPGs save as they should now. But it didn't help the graphics icons though.

Vista Home Premium's registry still has group policy entries, but no editor. Somehow those policies are being set. Do you remember how you found those corporate solutions? Maybe I can find the specific registry settings that are changed and do it manually. Somewhere, Office is deciding what happens with those icons.

I've never changed group policy settings using anything but group policy editor. Sorry.
