Hiya,

I am very new to using a computer (and am very old!!), so please be patient with me, I am doing my best, and will willingly accept any advice if my post is not up to standard.

Using Vista Home Premium 32 bit operating system, I created a user account and an administrator account. Then I read that a spare administrator account would be good (just in case). All was OK so far. BUT, in the process of creating the second administrator account, I had the bright idea to change the account names. I thought it would be the same as changing file and folder names. Apparently not!!

When I start the computer I have 3 options to log on as, they are Jeanette, Safety First and Spare Admin, but when I look at Computer>HP (C)> in addition to Public, I have users as follows: Jeanette, Jeanette1, Jeanette(10), Safety First, Spare Admin and TEMP.jeanette-PC.000

I only wanted one user called Jeanette, an administrator called Safety First and a reserve administrator called Spare Admin

The computer has created Jeanette1, Jeanette(10) and TEMP.jeanette-PC. 000 all by itself.

When I look at Users in Task Manager(from both of the administrator accounts) it shows Jeanette1 with ID1, Jeanette with ID2 and Spare Admin with ID3.

When I’m logged on as Jeanette, Task Manager Users shows me as Jeanette1 with ID1.

I have logged on as Safety First and then as Spare Admin and tried using Task Manager to send messages from those accounts to the other accounts but these were not allowed.

Can anybody tell me what is my best way to deal with all these spare names please?

Delete all the extra accounts as there is already a built in administrator account built in, Its just hidden by default to protect it from user errors
