Online games won`t run

hi, I`m using my hp pavilion dv7 with vista home 64bit, and all my programs or games that requires internet connection won`t work, except the vista updater and my browser. my firewall is turned off, and i`m the administrator on the pc. for example: i tried to run Perfect World, but the updater says i have no internet connection, the Google Chrome downloader says the same, and any other program or game too. please help.

Are you behind a router? if so, the router firewall might be on and it is preventing you from opening the necessary ports needed for online gaming.

Don't quote me on this, hopefully, some of the gurus will chime in soon.

i tried everything with the router, but the problem is not the router, because from the other laptop (xp with sp2) i can use everything, so the problem is somewhere in my laptop.

I now get a simular problem with Wolfenstien enemy teritory.

I was wondering if there was a way to fix this. I am consideing getting quake wars enemy territory but i don't want to get it and encounter this problem withought knowing how to fix it.
