Hi

"My Outlook 2007 has just developed a strange error, as follows...

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\OUTLOOK.EXE

The applicationhas failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more details".

Ive been into the event viewer, as directed by other forums, and this message is displayed.

Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\OUTLOOK.EXE.Manifest".Error in manifest or policy file "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\OUTLOOK.EXE.Manifest" on line 0. Invalid Xml

I am not very tech minded, although can generally follow instructions.

Does anybody know if this is something I can fix and how to go about it? Or do I need 'external' help.

Thanks

Hi & welcome.

Have you set specific "Save folders for stored messages" created in Outlook on your computer? As these will be lost if you un-install Outlook!

On saying that my first thought & I think the easiest solution would be to un-install it & re-install it.

Please note the comment above about loosing stored folders & messages.

If in doubt, ASK. OK?
