Let's see if we can fix the BSOD enough to get into Windows.
Then Jacee can get to work on fixing the infection.

Other options include slaving your hard drive to another computer (it'll have to have updated antivirus) and copying your data over to it. Once your data is saved, then wiping the hard drive clean will be easier to accept.

Okay, I just have an important essay that I completely forgot to save to my flash drive.
I'll get to work on the steps you provided and be right back, I gotta get this thing up and running again so I can get my essay back!
Thanks to the three of you for offering to help me, I'm very grateful.

EDIT: Do I need the recovery disks to access the BSOD thing? I'm not sure if I have them..

The System Restore, and Startup Repair are non-destructive. This means that your essay will not be deleted by trying them. Please try a Startup Repair, test your computer, try System Restore, and try your computer again.

If either of them let you boot into Windows, immediately back up your essay, and anything else you don't want to lose, as this may not be very permanent at all.

Shut the computer off, put your flash drive in, then boot to the Startup Repair menu.

Try the Command Prompt in the Startup Repair menu (it's the bottom choice) - and use that to copy your essay to your Flash drive.

I have absolutely no clue as to how to use the command prompt.. >_<

Do you know the EXACT name and location of your essay. If not, please give us the best idea possible, and we can search for it :)

Or, you can use the Ultimate Boot CD or a Live Linux distro to access your hard drive and locate the essay - then copy it to your flash drive.

I have to apologise to all of you guys..! I've been rediculously busy.. But anyway, there is a folder on my desktop called Work Stuff. Would I be able to move it onto my USB drive via command prompt..?

My Computer

What is the drive letter assigned to your USB flash drive?
What is the name of your User Profile (in the Users folder)

Then the command would be:

Code:
copy c:\Users\[B][COLOR=Red]<profilename>[/COLOR][/B]\Desktop\Work Stuff\*.* [B][COLOR=Red]X[/COLOR][/B]:\Work Stuff\*.*
where
<profilename> is the name of your profile in the Users directory
X is the drive letter of your USB flash drive

Okay! Thank you very much..!
Now, since my computer is like, beyond fixing.. Could I ask for help on how to like, start over?
Will I need a Windows disk or anything?

When you brought your Computer was it preinstalled or not?

How old is your computer (approx in years)? What make and model is it? You probably already told us. Sorry! Is your essay backed up?

Thanks!

The laptop is only a year old, it's a Toshiba Satellite L300D -02M.
I ended up having to rewrite my essay, but I got a 94% on it so I'm so not complaining..lol I was able to copy the other stuff that I needed from it though.

I am so, so sorry for the delay. Thanks for reminding us. The documentation for how to return your computer to factory conditions is here: How to recover a Toshiba notebook with the HDD recovery procedure

If that does not work, try pressing the "0" << ZERO key as your would F8 (ie tapping it on immediate boot up) Good luck!

Hi Richard!
On the tutorial you provided the option that I need is called Toshiba HDD Recovery, but on my computer it's called Toshiba Recovery Wizard. The icons are completely different so I'm not sure if they are the same thing.
