Not even close to being dead. More than likely just a software problem but you can do several things to help us help you. First can you fill in your system specs (lower left corner) so we know what hardware you have.
second, can you go into c:\windows\minidump, zip the dump file (*.dmp) nd upload it for us to debug? If you need help with either finding it or uploading it tell us we will be happy to help

I can't get on my comp. I'm sending this msg from my blackberry. My screen on comp is blue and an error msg is on it.

Can you restart in safe mode on the computer ? (hit F8 on re-boot). If so go into c:\windows\minidump, zip the dump file (*.dmp) and upload it to us. If you cant can you boot from the dvd?

Thank you for all your help.unfortunately, I guess I am out of luck here. I can't even use my restore disk to start it up. I appreciate your willingness and effort. Thank you again.

Hi chrstefl, sorry to hear the problem.

It may be helpful if you let us know what did you do to it or what happened prior the misfit.

A lot of time if you can get hold of a Vista OS DVD and boot from there and then repair buy restore would fix it, unless it is hardware problem such as a dead HDD or a short somewhere.

If it is still under warranty, I would take it back and have it replaced the first thing in the morning.

Wish it is not a big problem and let us know how things go.

WIt started las weeknd with a msg that read “configuring updates 1of3. Do not turn off your computer. I haven't touched it. Then yesterday when I got in from work it had a diff screen that read
“ a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer”Stop:0x00000050(0x895BF018,0x00000000,0x84c2c367,0x00000000)CLFS.sys address 84c2c367 base at 84c2B000 datestamp 4549acbc”
So then I was advised to insert my dvd.restore, setup disk. It doesn't respond to my disk. .

hm... it almost sounds as if it over heated the first time.... and if it was in the middle of updates at that point that would be why you get bsod's....... do you have a desktop? if so you can get the data off your hdd before you try to wipe it and reinstall vista
