10 pc with WinVistaBusiness Operating System print on a network printer.
Does anyone knows how could I restrict users from changing printer propetries?
I ve set economy settings as default, and users keep changing to color or hi resolution printing.
Is there a way from Group Policies? We are not using Active Directory.
Please provide steps in your answer. thnx in advance.

Using group policy you can disable access to specific items in the control panel or the entire control panel. That's the only thing I can find in group policy. You can either configure group policy locally on each computer or create a domain (if you don't have one), configure group policy on the server, and then push it out to all of the computers. Note that if you do it locally then if your users are admins then they can revert the settings. If you use a server then the users would have to have server access to work around that.

Thank you for your answer townsbg ! I prefer to set gp locally. Users are not admins. Do you know the exact setting for users so as not to allow them access to printer properties but just allow them to print?

Run gpedit.msc. Provide password if prompted by UAC. User configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel. Look for Hide specified control panel items and double click to open. Set it to Enabled and click on the button that says Show. Click on the button that says add. I put in Printers and that hid it. Hit ok on both windows and close group policy editor. Not that this will hid it for all users including administrators. Also I was unable to test the ability to print.
