Printing issue

Hello,

I am running Windows Vista Home premium 64bit with 8gb ram and an hp c309a printer.

My problem is that vista take a long time to print even just a 1 word paper using notepad. Also when i right click the printer in the printer folder it also take time to open the properties, aprox 3 minutes. So if i try to print it takes 3 minutes just to open the tab to click print and to select the printer i wish to use. The c309a is connected by usb cable, and i have tried re-installing the latest drivers and firmware for the printer as well as different usb cables and each of my usb ports. Yet for some reason there is a long 3+ minute pause when trying to print. I have also tried using the network feature and I still have same trouble. Also i have checked to make sure print spooling is on in services. HP has a utility to check for issues for both network and for usb, and the printer passes each test fine. I have done so many full uninstalls and installing of the software as well as the cable changes it is driving me nuts. I have been google'ing for days and days and have had no luck in fixing this issue. One last comment every time i try to print the applications I am using freeze for the 3+ minutes and the window application shows "application not responding", but after 3+ minutes i can finally select the printer and hit print, then at that point it freezes again for about 2 minutes and then prints. I have run multiple virus scans and multiple spyware detection programs and have also run online virus scans using bitdefend and trendmicro as well and i have no virus or spyware. I have also ran "hijackThis" and been told my system appears clean.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this issue with vista, not counting a fresh windows install? please.

Thanks for the quick reply to my issue, i really appreciate it.
The clean boot did nothing to solve the issue with the printing wait.
Also while google'ing today I found a Microsoft program called FixIt I ran that utility on current setup as well as the clean boot and it shows no issues as well. According to the Microsoft Fixit and the HP Utility the printer and drivers are in working order.

I also today borrowed an Epson R280 printer from my brother, and I fully uninstalled the c309a and installed the R280 software and drivers. But I have the same issue with the r280. I uninstalled the R280 and put the C309a back onto the system and tried again but i still have this problem. I checked device manager and i have no issues being shown in the device manager.

It is a pain in the butt having to wait to print even a simple 1 line txt file. I did open the programs and features menu and went to windows components, under the Print Services section only 1 item is enabled. The enabled item is "Internet Printing Client", and 2 disable items are "LDP Print Service & LPR Port Monitor". No other options listed in the choices.

Does anyone have more ideas on this issue?

Thanks for the quick reply and help.

I have tried the printer in all 8 usb onboard ports as well as tried using the network port build into the printer, as well as multiple usb cables.
As for power I am running thru an APC for backup power in case of power loss the Computer and monitor are plugged into it, as well as a top grade surge protector.
The Printer, Router and Speaker System are into a different house circuit plug.

For a quick test plug both directly into the socket. It could be APC (I have one, also).

Thanks again for all the help.
From the printer itself I can scan print and print from file fine, it prints as soon as i tell it too.

The issue is only when i try to print from computer, and I have tried every tool I could from HP and from Microsoft. When i try to print test page it works fine when using computer, but When i try to go into the printer properties to print the test page or change settings is part of the problem. When i right click the process to open the proporties takes 3+ minutes to open, at that point it finally opens after 3+ minutes the test page prints ok, but not 100% of the time. I have sometimes had blank pages print out about 1 every minute for about 10 minutes.

But right now talking to you in theis email I have right clicked the printer to goto properties and it is in the long wait as it has not opened yet it should open in about 3-4 minutes. Also when it finally opens I have tried multiple settings, including the option to "print directly to printer". The same issue is still here even when I selected the print directly to printer with no spooling. It will take the printer screen 3+ minutes to open before i can select the paper, quality and other setting to print.

I should alos note I had a HP c8180 and and R280 and on this computer I have the same issue. But on my 2nd computer running Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit all the printers work fine.

I just cant seem to get printers to work right on this 64 bit vista version. And to save time my versions are all authentic not cracks or stolen version of windows.

Hello,

Ok i checked the Windows settings and Windows Firewall is off but Kaspersky anti virus is on. I have just sutoff and disabled Kaspersky so now no filewall or Virus software is on.

I opened notepad and typed the words "hello there" and went to file, print and click print, now the usual proble is here first notepad displayed "Not Responding" and now it sits at this screen for about 3 minutes before I can select the printer and paer ect..
I have also tried everything from paintshop, microsoft office, and many others and its always the same. First the program goes into not responding then will sit for about 3 minutes but has been more. Then after that time i finally get to selct printer and hit print, it will pause for another 3 minutes or so then start to print.

As i said I ran microsoft FixIt which check for spooler problem and other and it tells me system is ok.

Did you try with the printer plugged into wall socket and not APC?

Yes I have tried the separate wall outlet for the printer and no change I the tried my system on a wall plug without the apc and powerbar and still no luck.

I am contacting HP again but over the past week we have had no luck fixing it.

Hello,

I finally got it working so far, but the steps were very easy.

Click Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> Run.
Type msiexec /unregister into the Open box, and then press Enter.
Click Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> Run.
Type msiexec /regserver into the Open box, and then press Enter.

Then did:

Click Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> Run.
Now, Type "REGSVR32 VBSCRIPT.DLL

And last was to reinstall software and bingo it works.
Im not really sure why but im happy now.
