Problem connecting to a secure network

Someone help please - this is driving me mad.
I can connect to the internet via my wireless router with no problem as long as it is not secured.
If I switch on the security and then try to connect instead of it asking for the password I get a message saying -
The network settings saved on this computer do not match the requirements of the network.
What do I have to do to get passed this please?

Perhaps your driver is out of date? Try going to Device Manager and updating your driver.
1.Type in Device Manager in your start menu
2.Click on Driver Manager View attachment 27627
3.Go to the Network Adapters submenu
4.Right click and select Update Driver Software

If it didn't work please tell me, it usually doesn't really work and you might need another software to fix this problem.
