Problems With Windows Backups (Vistax64 Home Premium)

I am having a continuing problem using Windows Backup.
Each Week, I have it setup to auto backup most items on my HD.

The problem is, the Backup keeps Backing up thy prior weeks backups, which is
causing low diskspace problems and failed backups.

Any help/advice/site links would be greatly appreciated !

Are you saving the backups to the same drive you are backing up or including the backup drive in the selection of drives to be backed up during the automatic backup?

If to the same drive, you really have no protection because if the drive fails, you've lost your system and your backups as well. You need to save backups to a totally different drive (and not just a different partition on the same drive either). If you're including the backup drive in the automatic backup selection, just deselect that drive and it will no longer happen.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

Lauren, the backup files go to my WinXP desktop, where my laptop restore set is located. It still backs up the previous weeks backup set.

Thanks for replying.

Any other help/suggestions/sites to block previous backup sets (4) to be backed up?

Please send me a screenshot of the page showing your automatic backup configuration. The only way this can be happening is if you are selecting those backups to be included in your backup somehow.

Thanks!

Here is the screen shot that shows that backups are going to a winxp pc named brewster, but yet again, I am losing disk space bacause it keeps backing up the previous weeks backups.

Thanks to all for the help with this problem !
