Hi all...
I have Vista Business Edition (32bit) installed.
Workstation is on the network.
We use our workstation at work to connect to various locations, using various VPNs, from web based VPN to standalone such as Cisco, SonicWall, etc. etc.
Often, I work from home (XP workstation) and I want to RDC into my VISTA workstation at work. Sporadically, It won't allow me to remote in. (Once I establish my VPN to the network at work and try to RDC, it gives me the generic message that the workstation (my vista workstation) is unavailable or currently not accepting connections, etc.
The only way we have figured out to solve this is:
1- ipconfig renew from the VISTA workstation at work
2- above doesn't always work and we must reboot VISTA prior to leaving work.
If I reboot VISTA, then I have never had any issues RDC from home...
If we forget to do the above, then it is a gamble... Sometimes I'll be able to connect from home, sometimes I won't...
Both my coworker (which has VISTA installed) and I have to do this.
BTW, we have other workstations at work that are XP and that we also use to connect to various sites using the same VPN and we have no problems to RDC to those from our home. (and we never have to ipconfig renew or reboot - only with VISTA).
1- Anybody else experiencing this?
2- Is this a known problem?
3- Any settings I could change that would fix this?
Again, please remember that I can log in from time to time from home, this is a sporadic issue which we think might have something to do with us VPN in to multiple sites throughout the day? Maybe it does something to VISTA?
PS: Will be happy to provide more info if you need it
