Re-start problem.

Hi:

I would like to know if someone else has the same problem.

When I try to re-start Windows , the computer shuts down and try to start but instead beeps three times and don't start , then I have to press the power button to shut it down and wait about 10 minutes before starting again .

I have Windows Vista x64 on an Asus P6T Deluxe Intel X58 motherboard with 12GB RAM and an Intel i7 Extreme processor 965 with a Sceptre widescreen 22" monitor and a Thermaltake V1 cooling Fan with 800 watts power supply.

Did you change anything in the BIOS?

Try re setting the BIOS and see what happens. I am running a very similare configuration and it runs perfectly. I have the 920 processor over clocked to 3.4G and it runs perfectly.

The beeps are coming from a BIOS start error.

Battman...How do I re-set the BIOS (sorry for the dumb question, don't want to screw up anything). I have never messed around the BIOS before.

If you want to re-set the bios you need to boot in to the bios and reset it from there. When in the bios most resets are F5, F10 to save and exit. Check to see if there is a CMOS reset button at the rear of you computer, most Asus boards have them, it would be even easier to use that. What version bios do have ?, if you need to update the bios use the Asus E-Z flash in the bios, dont use the Asus software tool where you update from Windows. Download the latest bios from Asus and save it to a mem stick, connect to a usb port and boot in to bios, go to E-Z flash and follow onscreen instructions, but be warned, you should never take the update of the bios lightly, it can be fraught with danger, but if you follow the on screen instructions you should be fine. I cant say for sure if this will fix it but it does sound like a motherboard problem or at least hardware. Here is the link for Asus, it's the forum for your motherboard, you may find somebody else has had the same problem and has a fix for it, you can get your bios there too. Go to gownloads.
