reboot problem

I have a problem with my grandsons computer He is running windows vista and he shut the comp. down with the power button. Now it will not reboot to windows. A screen comes up and says possible error on software or hardware. then goes to a screen that says restart normally or safe mode or safe mode with options or last successfull start up. I tried them all and it just keeps repeating any ideas? thanx in advance

I dont have the disk, it was loaded when I bought it, is there any other way ?

Did you get any DVD when you bought the computer.

Do you have the manual telling how to get back to factrory specs?

No I bought it from a store like aarons ,it is still under warranty but they take two months to fix anything my grandson needs it for school so I am trying to get him back on line I will have the tower here tomorrow and will be better prepared thanx for your help so far

Fill in System Specs

If you can get to safe mode with by pressing F8, you can get to last known good configuration.

We may be able to get to the repair console, which we will try first or

You may be able to get back to factory specs. Basically, back to day one. Everything will be gone. You have to reinstall programs, updates, email favorites, everything.

You can use windows easy transfer to tranfer all but programs.

If you want to go that route, but your computer is not shown, fill out system spces and I will check it tomorrow or Monday. Easter tomorrow do not know my Schedule

Thank you very much for your time I really appreciate it I will have the system here tomorrow and will be more knowledgeable about it . I had the same problem with my computer which runs xp pro and when I hit restart windows normally it fired right up but thanx again for your help

Here this will get you started. When it mentions safe mode, try by booting the computer and during boot rapidly tap F8. If you can get to the safe mode screen follow the instrucions in this link. You may be able to access safe mode in this traditional manner.

I can't get past the screen that you sent me a link too. I am getting the exact same screen as he is getting start windows normally, start in safe mode, start from last known settings etc. I tried them all but it keeps comming back to this screen after it trys to load. I also get ablue screen saying it is dumping something but it is to fast to read I will try to read it and let you know what it says

Not Good you have the Blue Screen of Death. It turns blue while it is making the file. If you could access the machine we could get that file and find a specfic cause. There was one situation where the HD was taken from one machine and put into another to get to that file. I will contact our BSOD expert.
