My problem is that my hard drive is faulty so I managed to image only the recovery partition to another new hard drive.. now I'm trying to boot to that recovery partition but can't.. its an HP PRESARIO V3000..
I know this isn't what you are asking but if you can find any Vista disk, you could use the info in the tutorial at the link below to unlock the installer so you can install the same version and use the activation key on the sticker attached to the PC to activate.
Sorry mate, I just remembered the installer in Vista is not locked so all you need is a disk that is the same bit-rate to use, just don't enter the activation key during install, then after it finishes, activate it in "Computer, System" by phone if need be.
hmm// not so convinced mate.. I wanted to boot to the recovery partition on the new hard drive and install it.. but thiink that won't work as to enable that step you actually need to a valide windows on c drive which i don't know ...
thanks mate.. I went on doing a clean install and recover the data offf the faulty harddrive with recuva software.. time consuming but better than waiting for hp to ship the recovery disk.. sure now I can create a recovery disk,,
