Resizing System Restore help?

Yes, the only serious reason why you would lose space is due to malware or a virus.
Make a full scan with your anti virus and then a full, updated scan with Malwarebytes. Be sure its the full scan, if it takes much less than an hour, it probably not the full scan.
If you pass the first two, its not a serious problem. But can be solved with the article that I gave. Take time, ask, questions and we will hlep.
Follow the article for additional steps, but Malware and AntiVirus get prioroty.

thank you, one last thing and i'm good to go, I did Vssadmin list shadowstorage and the max space is 5GB nad the other values were 0 B..is this normal?

There is no right or wrong, but I dont think that 5gb is enough. Turn it off and then on again to get to default.
You may think it is just taking unnecessary room, but one day you will have a problem, maybe even a virus and you will be glad that you can go back several months,
Make an anti virus can and malwarebytes scan once a week, even if you do not think that you have problems.

I did step 1 and did default, 5gb is the defaut

5GB is a bit low. I think that default is 10% of Hard Drive space. Set it to at least 10GB, if you have the space available. Its all in the first tutorial.

Default is just a suggestion. Set it for 10 GB, thats enough. Then make the scans, follow the other suggestions to test the reasons for the hard drive usage and you should be all set. 90% of the time, the usage is due to restore points which is normal. There is software windirstat, which will show everything on your hard drive, if you care to try it.

I dont think it really necessary, but its a nice tool to have.

Have you ever changed your HD?
Did you turn off SR, boot, turn it on, boot and then check?

You can set it anywhere you want, but be sure you unerstand System Restore.
One day you are using your computer and you have a problem, that can be fixed by going back to good times, with System Restore. You know what caused the problem and you have to go back 3 months. If you do not have enough points, you cannot go back.
I have a 610GB HD, with Windows Seven. Im set for 90 GB for System Restore. Its a personal call.
May I suggest that you download Macrium Reflect, make an image of your Hard Drive and keep it on an External Hard Drive. If you ever have a problem and not enoughpoints, you can use the image and be good again.
SR will change only the Operating System.
Macrium changes everything, even your stuff.

I changed my shadowstorage to 10 gb and it caused an error and I couldn't get it back to 5 gb, will a system restore make it go back or just defauth SR?

My Computer

Try to delete the points that are there, you should be able to go back

I posted, a few frames, ago, that Sytem Restore is needed, but it does take space. I think its necessary to keep System Restore in case of problems. If it were my choice and I needed the space, I would buy an external and keep my stuff there and keep SR. It has to take space, that is how it functions.
