Rise of Nations/ Other games not working

Well I got Rise of Nations, which is kind of an old game so I didn't think there would be any problems on my Vista OS. Unfortunately when I play the game for more than about a half an hour, it bring me to my desktop and tells me that the game has simply stopped working! I play as administrator and put the graphics as low as they can go. Last week I played the game for hours without problems, but now it's doing this. Further more, this wouldn't be such a problem if I could simply load the game I was playing afterwords, playing in 30 minute increments, but when I get to the menu and hit "play" on my autosaved game, it kicks me off early. Someone help I really like this game and want to play it!

Hello Jared8Randall and welcome to the forums

If you have a shortcut to the game on your start menu or desktop then right click on it and select Properties. Then go to the Compatibility tab and tick the box that says Run this program in compatibility mode for: and select Windows XP Service Pack 3 on the drop down list. Then click apply then ok.

Now try the game and let us know how it goes

I have it running on Windows XP Service Pack 2, Pack 3 is not available, but thanks!

yeah I've played in in compatibility mode and it does the same thing :/

Can you tell me your system specs please? I know you've already done a bit of them, but I really need more detail please.

the Processor number is 2140 @ 1.6 GHz. 32 bit Operating System. My Dell won't tell me my exact video/sound cards information, but they gave me a 3.4/5 on my gaming graphics. Would the quality of card shut down the game though? I would think it would just make it crappier.

You're right, it would just make it very laggy.

Have you tried reinstalling the game?

alright I reinstalled it.. it now closes out quicker than it did before. After restarting the computer, it ran a disc check that came up with a bunch of different things, so I think it's the disk that isn't working. Durring the disc check it deleted a bunch of files that weren't working, so I'm justs going to get a replacement for it. Thanks Tom! I'll re comment if the problem persists.
