I have never tried Roxio but I have Nero 7 Ultra and it works terrific!

It is a personal thing. I would not choose either, both are bloated and I have had 3 nero failures resulting in complete e-installs.

If you are looking for burning software just do a search here on SF. I was going to say if I had to I would pick, but I wouldnt

For burning conventional audio CDs, such as if you have .flac files or whatnot, Burrrn Portable, and CDBurnerXP both work fine on Vista64. Both will automatically convert the .flac files. For general DVD burning I like Imgburn.

Like many I started out with Nero using it to do the video conversions as well as burning. Last version I bought was version 6 Ultimate. Since then I've found I get more control doing the conversions and burning as separate operations.

there are tons of apps that aren't bloadted and do the job. I personally use Alcohol 120% as I need several virtual dvd's so I can leave game dvd's mounted.

Its small, fast, does waht I want and doesn't bork my system

Yep, alcohol 120, not 52. 120 mounts unlimited virtual drives, burns images, mounts MD5, all sorts of things.

It is really just a personal preference when it comes to that sort of software. Once you pick one and use it then you get used to it and it just feels better but is not actually better then the other. The question is pretty broad so I can't be exact on the answer. I will say that when it comes to burning I am very familiar with the formats and what works.

burning songs, iso and other. is imageburn is best?

Image burn is the best for ripping ISO files to a Blue ray or compressed to a 4.7 dvd. As for songs and copies I like Nero, but that is just me.

I always get a bad feeling about software that requires the download of a separate removal tool to get its debris out of my registry. Also at least in version 6.x there was an annoying attribute that if I brought Nero up before the optical drive was done initializing an inserted blank disc, if it didn't like the disc, often I had to reinstall. Then the problems with InCD were no fun either. In the end, the only feature I really liked was creating SVCDs with menus. But I don't get into creating SVCD discs anymore.

On a lot of these softwares I think it's more an issue if your hardware likes the software or vice versa. If it does you love it, if it don't you don't. I get into similar discussions concerning disaster recovery imaging software. Someone likes a software that I say won't work with my system, because they don't have my system. They can't understand why I don't like it. If it works well, I like it fine. If it doesn't I don't like it at all.

Same with cars. The car can have a high lemon percentage, but if you get a good one, then it's a great model car. It's all about how it works for you.. not how it works for somebody else.
