Hi,
I am having a problem with Vista windows screen savers,,they will not work. It is an Acer Aspire computer with vista Home Premium 64bit OS, I am not using a wireless mouse or keyboard.
The Acer screen savers will work ok, but when I set it to the any of the windows screensavers ,they will not work(except the Windows Logo one), when the screen saver should come on I get a dxdiag.exe window that opens and says
"This application has failed to start because d3d8thk.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem."
I ran the directx diagnostic tool and everything seems ok except when I try to run the 64 bit dxdiag,,then I get the same error msg. as above.
I looked in the directx folder in the windows/sysWOW64/directx directory to see if the fie was there but that folder is empty. Then I downloaded and re-installed Directx and it says it is installed but there are still no files in the directx folder.
TIA,
Allan
