F8 doesn't take me to safe mode and I wouldn't know where to disable automatic restart once I was there.

I will be resetting my bios to see if I need overclocking.

Boot into Windows, right click on 'Computer', select properties. In the left pane select 'System protection'. Elevate privileges and select the 'advanced' tab. At the bottom you'll see a 'Startup and Recovery' menu, click 'settings'. Under the 'system failure' menu, uncheck 'Automatically restart'.

Can you get into administrative tools and check the event viewer? Help - event viewer should work. See what errors exist. You could clear the event viewer and reboot. This will only put the current errors in it.

Lol, volmgr error, configuring page file for crash dump failed. Page file is not large enough to contain all physical memory on the boot partition. I never had that one untill I lowered it to 400MB. I will set it to min = physical mem., and max to physical mem.

If f8 doesn't take me to safe mode I will flip the switch on the psu while in
Windows to force it, and I will disable auto restart so I can take a picture of the blue screen error at start up.

Paging file needs to be = RAM. I have 16GB of RAM. I put 128MB on C: to improve boot performance and 16GB on S:.

If I don't set page file high enough on boot partition (C: ), than I get the error volmgr, so I increased it to 8192MB on C: and I don't get that error.

Other errors, 40 from 1 startup:
WMI (10) = 2
Event System (ID 4609) = 1
Service Control Manager Eventlog Provider (ID 7001) = 16
Service Control Manager Eventlog Provider (ID 7026) = 1
DistributedCOM (ID 10005) = 7
DistributedCOM (ID 10016) = 12
HttpEvent (ID 15016) = 1
I don't have time right now to figure out what this all means, so I will be resetting bios to default to get rid of the overclocking that was done. Hopefully that will fix some of these errors.

Reset the CMOS to default. Clear the event viewer and reboot. Start with the earliest error message. You might want to boot as the administrator account to see what errors occur.

I'm a little confused: I think I allways boot as admin account, being only one account is set up.
I am about to reset bios to default, I took pictures of the settings in bios just incase.

If you don't mind me asking... why are you messing around with the page file? Seems to me that doing so has already caused more problems than it could ever be worth. Since this is a gaming rig, manually manipulating the page is pointless.

Vista does a really nice job of managing the page file on its own, so... I had to ask.

With 8gigs of ram, I really don't know. I thought that paging to a seperate drive, other than the OS drive and the game drive would be better. I will take the scsi out. But I know their is other issues that have to be addressed too, like all these errors in event viewer. I just reset the bios to default, and I got 264 errors, 261 are from DistributedCOM (ID 10016). I am trying to figure out why it just doesn't fix itself. I know reinstalling Vista won't help, but I am going to anyway, without the scsi card and scsi drive.

With everything you've done, and considering this is a very new system, it might be easier just to reinstall once you've decided on the hardware you want?

Thank you, I will fix that, but in doesn't make any sense to me. What is that dcom stuff used for? Can I get rid of it since everything works with it erroring like it is? Would that be considered a bug that will be fixed by Microsoft? Anyone can answer these questions.

I agree with you Fumz, I think it is allways better to reinstall OS after hardware changes.

DCOM errors can be a pain to fix. It is a used for process security rights. Microsoft does have a good document on dcom errors and resolving them. I would suggest a backup of your data and clean install without overclocking. Then, get everything patched to latest and greatest. Make sure its running good before overclocking.

I think Microsoft should resolve them. As long as the errors I get don't cause any major problems, I am fine with it.

The game I tried with no overclocking ran fine. Time to try another one.

Backup before editting the DCOM objects. Start with the earliest DCOM error. Solve one. Clear the event viewer. Reboot. See how many it clears.
