Side by Side Configuration Problem

I have installed eBay Turber Lister 2, but if I try to open it I get the error message "The application has failed to start because it's side-by-side configuration is incorrect". eBay says this is a windows problem and referred me to this site. I tried the fix below entered on another thread but it didn't work. When I ran the sfc/scannow it gave me a message saying "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log"
I presume this is the problem but have no idea how to fix it. Please can you help?

This is the fix I tried:

The solution in 3 easy steps:

1) Run As Administrator - CMD Prompt
type: sfc /scannow
Let it finish and reboot.

2) Download and Install these files:
a. Download details: Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x86)
b. Download details: Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)
c. Download details: Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86)
d. Download details: Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)
e. Download details: Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86)

f) Adobe

f1) adobe acrobat reader
f2) adobe flash player
f3) adobe shockwave player

4) Download and install your WindowsUpdates that are ready.

Usually the redistributables are the problem but it could also be .net framework.

Is Microsoft .net framework shown in Programs and Features. If so, select it and then uninstall. You should get two options- run the repair option.

After that, I don't know what you should do.

Please upload your CBS.log file as an attachment - we may be able to find out where the problem with it arises.

(just for giggles, I installed the UK version in a virgin Win 7 VM - it required NONE of teh above software for installation, or to run the program. I didn't attempt to take it any further than that, though)

CBS file attached. It appears the problem is with the "settings.ini" Windows-Sidebar. Any ideas how to fix this?

the settings.ini file can be ignored - IMNSHO it should never have been in the file protection list in the first place, as it's a user-configurable file.
There appear to be no other errors, so we'll have to look elsewhere.

Start by uninstalling the program, downloading a new copy, and installing from the new copy.

As far as I can see at teh moment, there's nothing at all wrong with Windows - but it could be that your security software is getting in the way - what are you using?

If that's not the problem, then all I can think of is to refer you back to eBay - it's their software, and they should know what's needed.
