Sims Installing - Please Help!

I just bought a brand new laptop (Vaio VGN-C25G) Has 1.66GHz, Geforce 7400...

I was really hoping to play the sims 2, although when i put the CD in, the computer does not seem to recognize it. I go through the D: to try and do the setup/installation. I click the setup and nothing happens!

i don't understand, is this to do with vista? any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!! :)

Have you tried the CD in a different machine to prove the CD is ok?

I'm getting the same thing with my laptop. It's definitely not the CD because it works in my other computer. I borrowed a friends copy of Sims 2 and it wouldn't work in the laptop although other CDs do.
After googling it, it looks like this is a common problem for Sims and Vista
