Sleep mode correct usage?

I have a Dell laptop, Vista Home Premium SP1. Is it harmful to put the computer to sleep and "wake it up" 4-5 times per day? I'm not sure how much wear and tear this causes, compared with just leaving it on. Thanks, Larry

There's no harm in using it that way, and it's certainly better than leaving it running at full tilt all day long.

Hello Larry, and welcome to Vista Forums.

It is also better than than turning the computer off and on all day long to.

Using sleep mode like that is fine. That is what it was designed for, so you can quickly start Vista back up at anytime you like.
