Hi I got this old laptop to run my security cameras with ispy.
Its been going 24/7 for 3 years now and I'm not sure what I did but the sound stops working if I reboot it and only works again if I eject the dvd sled.
there is no disk in it.
then it works till I reboot.

anyone ever run into that before?

its realtek 6.0.1.5653 version driver

thanks

In the BIOS, what drive is set to run first when you reboot- DVD drive? If so, you might try changing that to your hard drive.

I always kept my Vista system set to boot from the DVD drive first (in case I needed to use an antiviral or Macrium rescue disk), but I never had the OP’s issue. It sounds to me like the drive thinks a disk is present even if there is no disk, i.e. like the drive isn’t working properly. If the drive doesn’t work anyway, then you might try uninstalling its driver from Device Manager.

I just live with it. I dont reboot much as I use the laptop for Ispy camera recording.
I suspect its a audiocpl start up item I may have disabled from start up with ccleaner
