Hello, I have a home built comp with 2 AMD FX-64 dual core cpu's with 2 nvidia 8600 GTS graphics cards. My problem is this eveytime i shut down my system i get an error message that tells me that the \Boot\BCD file is missing and gives me the following error code 0xc000000f. So i proceed to start the Vista disk to repair a drive. Sometime during the loading of the files I get and error message saying that windows can not communicate with an I/O device and get the following error code 0x00000e9. This is very frustrating and just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem.
0x00000e9 may be an Installation error
Are you runing multiple O/S's?, or recently removed a dual boot config? seems like you may have overwrote/corrupted the Boot config, You will have to rebuild the BCD for your Primary OS
You will need to boot in to the recovery enviroment off your disk, Use the BOOTREC.exe TOOL and rebuild, I would also do a system file check, and atribute check.

run
sfc /scannow
run
defrag c: -w
run a full disk check
Run an online NOD32/Norton/Kaspersky malware check
Run a Memory Diagnostic (type
mem in start search to access Memory Diagnostic)
Antivirus Scanners & Internet Security Tools
2. Run a System File Check to check the system for integrity violations
note- follow this tutorial- but instead of the defrag command, use
sfc /scannow then run the defrag command as instructed in the tutorial
How To Make Vista more responsive and faster
3. Check your HDD that Windows is on for Attribute Corruption. (step 2)
(see above tutorial)
note-Failure of the scans/corruption reports that cannot be fixed will require restore/reinstall
