Startup Error

After I have logged in to my laptop and the desktop comes I get an error message that says

" Could not load or run 'C:\Windows\service.exe specified in the registry. Make sure the file exists on your computer or remove the reference to it in the registry. "

I have tried CCleaner and have had a look through the Registry bu I can't seem to find what is causing the problem.

Any suggestions or fixes will be greatly appreciated.

Is service.exe showing in msconfig?

Type msconfig in start search - click it when it pops up. Under the Services Tab, and startup Tab , see if it's there - if so , untick it, Apply,OK, Exit without restart.

No, it's not there under the name service.exe but I am starting to suspect it may be under another name instead.
