hey everyone,
So this problem appeared randomly yesterday. I have a dell inspiron 531 that has been running fine for about 2 years now, but yesterday (after my mother decided to install second life for some reason) the pc shut down, then alerted me that it couldnt start up properly and had to automatically run a startup repair. After doing that for a bit, I was presented with two options :shut down or restore to an earlier point. I hit "restore" and the computer started doing its own thing. Finally, i got a message stating that the pc could not be repaired automatically and that if i had installed any devices recently, that i should remove them. I then looked at the diagnotstic and repair details, which stated that the root cause was Bugcheck 116 (whatever that means) and that the computer had attempted to check and repair the integrity of the system files but this had failed. Then I got a series of options regarding how i could fix the computer that looked like this:
I ignored these and restarted the computer, and it restarted fine. This morning i got the same problem again. And now its on a startup repair loop and not actually fixing the problem. What do????? Could this have anything to do with the exorbitant amounts of updates i have yet to perform?
