Solved Staying Logged In

If you check the option (sometimes the default) to have a site remember you the site puts a cookie on your browser and you'll still be logged in after you close the browser. But what if you don't check that option? Do you stayed logged in as long as you don't close your browser? (A temporary cookie?) I used to think that once you left a site, even if your browser remained open, it would forget you but that doesn't seem to be the case fooling around with it now.

Thanks

That really depends upon how a site is programmed. Some are programmed to log inactive users out after a specific period of time.

Yeah, I looked around and tested things out myself and it appears sites will log you out if you leave them and don't return after a certain period of time. This one logged me out eventually.

Thanks for replying. Really appreciate it.

Depending upon how it is done there really isn't anything you can do about it except to file a complaint.

Sites with sensitive material, like banks, will log you out after a certain duration for security reasons which I think is a good feature. I've never been logged out of a conventional site where I ticked the option to remain logged in.

I agree. Anything dealing with a person's financial data, medical data, or even your email should protect your account and your session however I think protection should extend beyond that.

I agree and expect there are safeguards beyond terminating sessions. Whether sites do enough I wouldn't know.
