Is there any text following the KSOD error that might indicate the source of the problem? Maybe you can post the entire error message.

How do you know you're getting a KSOD if all you get is a black screen? If you are truly getting that you should be able to look at the BSOD log file.

I think it's a different kind of KSOD, but maybe we (and some other people) can resolve this

I thought maybe it would put it in your Win 7 folder but it's probably not seeing those. Understand, I'm not an expert like these other guys.

Did you take a look? I think you have XP also installed and you can look at it's logs folder.

Hi Andrei31910:

I'd suggest you post your system specs and details about your KSOD installation error in the MSFN Vista forum <here>, which is where most Vista enthusiasts with advanced troubleshooting skills still post these days. If you are able to boot up into the current OS on your machine use Piriform's free Speccy utility to post your system specs as follow:
  1. Download Speccy Portable v1.32 (spsetup132.zip) <here> from the MajorGeeks site and save to a USB thumb drive (or any other location you prefer).
  2. Unzip spsetup132.zip and double-click the .exe executable (Speccy.exe for a 32-bit OS; Speccy64.exe for a 64-bit OS) to launch the program. Wait for Speccy to collect system information and populate the interface.
  3. Go to File | Publish Snapshot and then copy and paste the URL this generates (e.g., http: // speccy.piriform.com/results/xxx... as shown below) in your new topic in the MSFN forum.
Speccy Snapshot Copy to Clipboard EDITED 26 Jul 2021.png

If you haven't used Speccy before, I published a snapshot of my (now retired) HP Pavilion dv6835ca / 32-bit Vista SP2 machine at http://speccy.piriform.com/results/z2qoNAESuxQeYKCK2QGx3or. This 12-Jul-2019 snapshot is the last snapshot I published for this Vista SP2 laptop before I uninstalled my Norton Security Deluxe v22.15.2.22 antivirus.

There are no “Vista enthusiasts with advanced troubleshooting skills” who still post at MSFN these days. Even that European paranoiac with multiple member accounts seems to have finally gotten some psychiatric care. MSFN still has a number of Windows XP diehards, but that’s about all. Also, your Speccy habit was acquired at Bleeping Computer, not MSFN.

If I was interested in a triple-boot machine (which I never was and definitely never will be), I would look for old threads from the days when people actually did it (i.e. posted 15-16 years ago). You probably need to install Vista before Windows 7!

ok, first of all, I made a mistake...... (I installed 7 before vista, classic me), second, vistaar's post is correct. But I'll try to see the specs
