Strange lock ups

i am getting slightly annoyed with my pc.

ever since i have gotten it back from my computer store, there will be sudden lock ups in games and videos which will last for a minute...then the screen would go dark with "NO SIGNAL" then would come back to life.

i recantly had my old graphics card taken out cos it went ka-put which was a Nvidea 8800GT.....no problems.....now the new one which is a Nvidea 450GTS i have just recantly updated to the latest drivers.

and also i had one stick of RAM out due to it being faulty....orinalay running at 3.00Ghz is now running at 2.00Ghz. if it keeps going i will have to do a format of the OS to see if it stops.

any help would be great :D

Welcome
To me it sounds like problems with the graphics card or driver.
Go to event viewer (type that in search by the windows start button) from administrtive in the left panel check out errors that happen at the time of the problem.
Go to device manager and look for any yellow warning markers by your drivers/cards.

Whats your power supply? 450 is a small jump from an 8800 and if your psu is lower endish, you could be under powered.

oh....it might be....cos it has been intemittant....like one of the programs which is a driving game, when i exacute it, it will hang...screen will drop out with a No Signal then pop back with it in game. i might go up to my computer shop and ask them. thnx for the help
