System Restore not working. Have tried everything

Ok so i made this account because i need help.
I have windows vista 32bit and am trying to do a system restore. But every time it tells me there was an unspecified error and that no changes were made.

I have tried going back to previous restore points. didn't work

Tried sfc /scannow. no problems and still didn't work

tried turning off antivirus. didn't work

tried it in safe mode. didn't work

ran malwarebytes. took care of some malware but System restore still didn't work

On services Volume shadow control is started and on automatic.

As you can see i've tried everything and still system restore refuses to work.

Please help.

Did you install a Windows Update just before this happened? If so you may be able to find the bad one, if one is the cause, by removing them one at a time.

You might have to repair vista. Note I highly recommend that you back up your files first.
