System restore

I am running Vista Home Premium 32bit and cannot start up system restore. I get error message "0x80070057"

How can I resolve this?

What type of bakup are you trying to restore, is there more than one file or a complete set?
This error can be caused by a backup with no files in it.

What software are you running in the background?
Have you tried in safe mode?

I am not trying to restore a backup, but run the program so I can create a backup point. In trying to run the program I get an error message coded 0x80070057

Other that running on the internet right now I have only Microsoft Security Essentials running in the background.

Sometimes the AntiVirus can be the cause of the problem. Temporarily disable MSE.
Same with firewall
Make sure that you have enough space to make points.

I disconnected both MSE and Windows firewall - program will still not start up. I have 80GB free space on my C Drive.
