The application failed to initialize properly 0xc0000005

Cannot open any *.exe files to include browsers.
I have tried to do a system restore, but did not help. I have also tried everything in safe mode with no luck.
I have tried to run hijackthis, but it won't run either.
Anyone have any suggestions?

I have read the information on the link you sent, however I don't believe that to be the issue. I have never had the blue screen of death (thankfully) and when I get the error (The application failed to initialize properly 0xc0000005) it doesn't lock the computer up or force a re-boot. It simply does not open any program.
Also, I am able to get into the Registry, Control Panel, My Computer and things of that nature.
I ran a virus scan and that came up clean...any other suggestions?

Just to help you with any confusion you might be having, you do not have to get the BSOD to get the 0xc0000005 error. Just as you read, it is associated with a hardware, or virus problem. Here is a link to the Windows Solution Center Hardware devices not detected or not working. Along with the suggestions of the previous post, I suggest you run the diagnostic tool to isolate the problem and find a solution.

Unfortunately I cannot open any browers with that computer...so cannot run the fix. I tried to right click on the file and save to my jump drive in hopes that I could run in on that computer, but not an option. Is there another way? Thanks.
