Hmm ... merge, don't you just go to Device Manager and on that drive , right click and tell it to update, then select the driver from your computer location ?

Hi, Yard Dog

I got error code 10 for the CDrom too. I did like you said but the cdrom'll disappear the next day when i turn on the laptop (again, code 10). I merged the file and it comes back after reboot but I'll have to wait and see if it persists until the next 2 weeks or so.

Anyway, do anyone know what causing this error? I have just re-installed vista 32-bit and upgraded service packs and everything work fine for 2 weeks then the cdrom just disappears the next day when I turn on the laptop

Hi KendaraKatze,
Have you tried the following:
Go to Device Manager and right click on the CD/DVD-Rom drive and choose "uninstall" then restart the computer and Windows should reinstall it for you. Hopefully with the error gone.
Raj

The cd is not listed in the devices. So this can't be done. That's the problem.

This fix worked on Windows XP also. I had the same problem with the DVD drive not working and the yellow exclamation mark in device manager.
You save the cdgone.reg to desktop then click on the icon and get message asking if you want the file added to the registry. Click YES and job done. Thanks very much.

tanuj_chadha

Thanks so much. I know this is an old thread but I had the same problem today with my CD-Rom and using the cdgone.reg file got my ROM back up and working quickly.

You're the best!

I also had the exclamation mark next to tsst corp cd/dvdw ts-l632d ata in the device manager and did the merge. That took away the exclamation mark. Before that, the drive wouldn't play a CD or DVD at all. After that, it would play a CD, but the music would jump back and forth a few times then settle down, until I forwarded to another song and the same would happen. It will not play DVDs at all. I get some odd noises coming from the drive when it tries to play a DVD and it keeps making noises while playing CDs. Is it broken?? I tried deleting the drive and rebooting also. I don't know where I can get a new driver, if that's the problem, but in devise manager, it says it is working properly.

My Computer

Could you please post the link to the file so I too can run merge it to my registry?

The link has been deleted apparently. See below.

You can download the drivers for your drive from here:

Drivers and Downloads

OR

Download & run merge the following file to the registry. Make sure that you save the file on the desktop & then merge it.
