unable to to perform pc restore on x64

did that, but it still gives me the same error message as before. cannot apply security permissions.

what are you trying to remove?

a downloaded version of rosetta stone. a folder with dll files, the application, and others. if i try to open the application, it tells me i don't have permission.

Make sure that you have permission from the link I gave you before.
If it does not work, look and see who has permsiions.
Probalby the trusty installer.

i'm trying to do all that from before but its just telling me accss denied, that i cannot change the security settings. all the while, i have full permission.

Go into permisisons and tell me who has permsiion, if you do not.

i managed to get it. what do you recommend now? is everything off my computer? is it safe for someone else to have? is any of my old information (passwords, saved credit card info., etc.) still on there?

Did you delete both windows.old
Everthing is off c drive?

The only other thing that I could think of, but not sure if you can do it with the DVD, that you have is to format and then install. That is 100% safe.

The way you did it you are 90% safe. But unless you are really with the CIA and there are secret documents there, no one is going to spend the money for the software to to see pictues of you and your pet dog or even your passwords.

My only concern is that you left something.
The area that was occupied by Windows.old can still be accesed with sophisticated equipment. As I said, if you are selling to your buddy from school or work, I think he or she just wants a computer that is not too expensive.

i'm selling it on ebay, so it could be anyone. but i do want to take the extra time to completely remove everything.

As I said the sure way is a format. But, I gave you all the information that I have. Do not know if you can use that DVD on a formatted HD.

I do know with a regular upgrade DVD or a full retail, you can format first, but do not know with the DVDs that came with the computer for reinstallation.

Why not just give the compay that you bought the computer from, a quick call tomorrow. If they say yes, just format and reinstall. You are safe then, to be 100% percent safe, go to the website of your Hard Drive manufacturer and do a zero format. Then you are 100% safe.
