Alright i'm about to rip my hair out with this one.
I just got a linksys E3000 (wireless-n, sim dual band 2.4 and 5.0GHz, gigabit ethernet) router that replaced my not so old linksys WRT300N (wireless-n, 2.4 band, fast ethernet) router. Now I manually configured it since i don't want to use WiFi Protected access/setup. So i set all the settings to match my old router and my laptop (asus g37jw), netbook (asus eee pc seashell series), dad's toshiba laptop and all hardline devices work without a problem. However whenever my mom or sister's laptops (hp pavillion dv6700 entertainment pc) try to connect they get unidentified network error. They connect to it without a problem (usually) and have excellent strength but limited to no connectivity. So i did a firmware upgrade on the router, driver update on the hp (was up to date), and a reset the computer and router, no luck. Next i looked up the ipconfig /all and compared it to a working pc and they matched (aside from different ip's of course) and nothing looks wrong. I pinged the router with the hp and it came back Destination Host is Unreachable or request timed out. Setting a static did not help. The only fix that actually worked was telling the router to use wireless-g only and without security on the 2.4GHz band broadcasting at 20MHz only on channel 6. But this is stupid because most machines nowadays still can only pick up the 2.4Ghz band and that's a huge downgrade from my last router which did 2.4Ghz wifi-n and wpa-2 aes with no problems. The wifi card in the hp is Atheros AR5007 wifi b/g. Which i feel is the problem since all other devices work fine on the 2.4Ghz and the 5.0Ghz (mainly my laptop which is the only one that can see the 5.0Ghz) band. Idk what to do at this point... any ideas?
