Updates Cause Computer to either BSOD or restart constantly

Hello,

My problem occurs when I attempt to update my computer using Windows Update. The updates will download and install with issue, but when I restart the computer as required, things start to go wrong. The first time I attempted to Update my computer, the computer would crash to the BSOD when ever I tried to start it. It would crash just before the Vista orb appears during start up. I used the installation disk to use System Restore to restore the computer to the state it was in before the Update. I tried to up date my computer again. The installation went fine, but when I restarted my computer, the computer would reach the "Configuring Updates - Step 3 of 3" stage where it would go from 0% to 97% then restart itself and repeat the process. I used the same method as before to restore the computer to its original state, but this time, I came up with several errors.

First, two programs I installed recently no longer work. All of their files are there, except the .exe files.

Second, the network icon in the system tray has a red 'X' next to it and it gives the error "The dependency service or group failed to start." However, I can still connect to my network, so I am sure what is actually wrong with it.

Third, I get a two of errors when I start my computer. These errors come from Windows Defender and the other two come from Windows Problem Reports and Solutions. Whenever I try to run either program I get an error: "0xc0000022: This program has failed to initialize." Also, whenever I click the Games button on the start menu, an Explorer window will open briefly and then close without taking me to the Games folder.

There are 20 update I installed at the time which could have caused this. They are:

KB963017

KB951847 x64

KB948881

KB952004

KB956572

KB958690

KB959426

KB960225

KB960803

KB960715

KB890830

KB960544

KB905866

KB915597

KB955706

KB967912

KB960353

KB960003

KB959997

KB962871

I believe that is all of them. I am running Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 x64.

So my main 3 issues are:

Which update(s) are causing the problem?

How do I solve the update problem?

How do I fix the program errors described above?

Thank you
