upgrading from vista ultimate 32bit to 62bit

so i got a new lap top with ultimate upgrade from home premiume and installed the cd to realise i had installed 32bit not 62bit .. so the next day i went to put 62bit but it needs restore and upgrade is disabled.. is there anyway to enable it because i dont want to spend a few days re installing everything again

There is NO WAY to upgrade from 32-bit to 64-bit (or vice-versa) - you need to do a clean-install. That also means that you will need to reinstall your programs. Before you do so, check to make sure that you have got 64-bit drivers for your laptop.

ty, all the drivers are on the hp site i have saved on usb.

is it worth doing a format for 62bit? will i notice any difference?

When you clean-install Vista, the setup routine automatically formats the partition that you are going to use. See the following Tutorials:
