Please forgive me in advance as I am new to the forum.
I'm no computer expert but I can get around a bit. I don't know my way around the BIOS screen though. I would say I'm an intermediate user I suppose?
I recently got some software/hardware for transferring VHS and copying DVD's. I decided to hook up my DVD player last night and in the process, I mistakenly unplugged my PC while it was still running. I've done this once before a year or so ago and had no problems.
After I turned the PC back on, I noticed that my mouse was not lighting up. I tried another mouse and it didn't work either. I then took the original mouse and hooked it up to my wife's laptop. It works just fine. I then tried the devices in my other USB ports and none of them are working. I can't even charge my iPod.
I have checked my Device Manager and everything seems to be functioning properly. I disabled and re-enabled all of the USB listings under Device Manager. Still nothing. I searched for updated drivers. All are up to date. I tried a couple of restore points and it they wouldn't function/complete correctly.
The only thing I did on my PC yesterday was update my iTunes to the latest version. I've had someone tell me that by unplugging my PC, I may have burned out my USB ports. Wouldn't that show as "device not working" under the Device Manager if that was the case? I have rebooted numerous times.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Please let me know what other information I need to provide, if any. Again, I'm no computer genius.
Thanks!
