User profile issues

Evening All,

So, here goes....

I am attempting to put a new user account on the system. I have went through the usual route of CONTROL PANEL/USER ACCOUNTS/ADD NEW USER etc which does create the profile (at least it seems to have).

When I am trying to log in using this profile i get the error message "USER PROFILE SERVICE FAILED LOGON".

Having Googled this error I have came across a 'fix' involving using regedit. I cant follow the instructions quite easily and have done so though my issue seems to be that the new profile(s) I am creating are not shown in regedit, only the three profiles that are on the system already are available to edit.

Is there a limit on how many profiles can be attributed to one system? (I think not)

So, to round up.... I can see the profile on the logon screen and in control panel/user accounts but nowhere else.

Can anyone help?

Thank you for the prompt reply Rich.

Unfortunately I have tried this fix. I cannot see the profiles in regedit so they are definately not set to .bak

My system has no record of them except in control panel.....

Try this. We will know what is corrupt. If errors are found run several times
