VBScripting problem

I downloaded the desktop Weatherbug tonight. When I went to install it I got a window that said I need to enable VP Scripting on my computer. I have NO IDEA what this is about. I do know that I had Weatherbug on my computer in the past and uninstalled it. I ran the sfc scannow and it said there were no integrity violations.

Can anyone help me with this? My computer is running fine -- no problems -- until this little bugger came to light.

I attached a screenshot of the window I'm referring to.

p.s. I tried that thing of opening the command box and registering the vb script with this command: regsvr32 vbscript.dll. It said it was successful but I still can't install WeatherBug.

I indicated in my post that I have already done the two things which your link sent me to.

Does anyone have other suggestions, please?

Hi,

Just a thought, did you run the command in an elevated command prompt (Run as Administrator) as stated in the link?

Yes, I did "Run as administrator." It stated it had been successful. I see there are a lot of people who are getting this error when trying to install WeatherBug. Could it be something with the program because I'm not having any other problems with my computer? And as I said, I did have this program on my computer, probably a year ago.

My suggestion would be, try to find out what version of VBScript.dll the program needs. It may just pop up the same error dialog if the version is below what it requires.

Also it's helpful if you fill out system specs. That saves the thread being filled up with questions like what service pack are you running? What version of IE, .NET yadda yadda..

I'm not sure where to fill the info out that you mentioned. I will check further and see if I can find it.

How do I find out what version WeatherBug needs?

Click on Quick Links at top right of forum page then click System Specs.

I'm not familiar with that program. I would look if they have a forum on their site. Many softwares keep a forum on their web site as a support method. Or just try google terms like ProgramName requirements, minimum version vbscript.dll.

I'd be doing the same thing. If I knew the program I could help more. But I've never used it.
I couldn't even find a change log for vbscript.dll. Only hint of versions was the MS fix page I found. But if you have SP1 you may already have that version.

A system specs program like LookInMyPC may list the vbscript version.
