I am trying to find an easy to use but totally free video file convertor as I have a few clips saved from the Vista Movie Maker, but I just downloaded something and it said it was free and was'nt, it did'nt even say it was a trial (don't you just hate that) anyway does anyone by anychance know of something good that is'nt a trial or that you need to pay for, there must be something out there that does'nt mislead you, but for the life of me I can't find it
I'm not familiar with Vista Movie Maker but if you're going from avi => dvd I can recommend FAVC and DVD Flick. Esp. with multiple cores you should enjoy FAVC.
Going the other way you might try AutoGK and AviDemux. I see you have 64 bit. The only one of the above I'm sure ottomh that has a 64 bit version is FAVC. You can look
them all up with user comments at VideoHelp site.

Something about Unregistered User..........but I can't seem to find anything else
In the end I had to find a program to convert the VOB file to avi and got iSofter DVD Platinum, but did'nt bargain for the fact that the unregistered notice would be right in the middle of the clip spoiling it totally
Don't know what else to do.
I plumped to use the FAVC and its fine to use on 64-Bit as you said *MilesAhead* :D
