hi!! i got a laptop from a friend here in iraq(i'm a soldier) and have vista ultimate but he dont gave me the activation code, how or where i can get/buy a activation code to activate my laptop?

What Operating System is on the computer now?

If vista ultimate is on the machine, now it is easy to get the number.

thanks you all for your support.. and yes i have vista ultimate installed in the laptop but i downloaded some updates and now i need to activate windows, i dont have any disk or key.. the laptop was a gift from a friend here.. again.. thank you all for your support..

i installed the SIW softwere and it showed up three defferent numbers:

windows product key

windows default product key

serial number

which one is the real key?

L=Letter

The key looks like this

LLNLL-LLNLN-NNLLL-LLNNN-LLLNL

The number should be the Windows product key

mine aint in that order but is 5 sets of 5....
ps i have siw and dont have a " windows default product key"

I am sure you are right kenny. Its definately 5 sets of 5. I assumed that the numbers and letters were the same. In any event, good catch, Luis will catch it.

Not good. A key can be used only once. Your friend may have used it already. I am sure he did not do it intentionally. You may have to buy another. If so, buy and upgrade, will cost about 120 US dollars. Hopeflully you can get a big discount, in the Milatery.

If you can, call your friend, see what the story is.
