the next scheduled run in the defrag always says "never". when i schedule a time and then close the box and then go back in it still says "never". how do i keep a scheduled time to defrag?

I'm not sure why it's doing this for you then. You might consider the free Auslogics Disk Defrag program instead. It's much better and faster, and it also has a schedule that you can use with it.

well tghis happen once before and someone told me how to fix that and it was fixed for a while but now it is like that again, so i know there is a fix for it.
My Computer
Two common things to try and fix it would be to run a sfc /scannow command. If that did not help, then a system restore using a restore point dated when it did work may.
