I'm sorry, but I don't understand your question or what the problem is exactly.

As far as defrag in Vista goes, I recommend you download Download Auslogics Disk Defrag for free and use it instead of Vista's version. Be sure to turn off Vista's automatic scheduling in Task Scheduler and you may want to schedule Auslogics to run instead. It won't give you as many problems, does a better job, shows you a better view of what is happening, and has more options. I use it myself and I think you'll find it a welcome change.

I hope this helps. If it doesn't address your concerns, please clarify what they are.

Good luck!

what i meant was does it defrag soon as u reinstall because the cmd analized indacates it had 6% fragment.

Edit it's telling me to defrag if it defraged it wouldent say that.

It doesn't defrag automatically as part of a re-installation or even a clean installation - that isn't part of the process. In fact, it doesn't do it automatically at all until you tell it to do so (and you can't tell it to do so right after a re-installation as there's no option in the install process to issue that command - you must boot into Vista and then set up the schedule for the next time).

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

P.S. I like your last name - it's quite familiar to me. ;)

That's right; vista does not defra automatically. You need to set the defrag schedule or force it to run from a CLI, in both these cases, the defrag might take a while since the utility is not very fast. And some fragmentation after a clean or re-install is normal since many files are written and deleted (temp files) during the process. It used to be the same case with XP too, and I suspect its true for W7 also. Anyway, for true automatic defrag, you can check out the commercial utilities; they have auto monitoring, auto defrag and even fragmentation prevention..ofcourse they're not free.

For what it's worth, although there are admittedly some commercial defragmentation programs that offer many different features, IMHO you don't really need all that and I see no reason to pay good money for what you can get to do the job quite well for free.

If you download and schedule the FREE program I recommended in my first post, you'll have all you really need to do the job right and automatically (meaning on a set schedule - it doesn't have the feature to do it when it detects it may be required but that really isn't necessary if you schedule it every few weeks if you make a lot of changes (perhaps more frequently if you REALLY make a lot of changes) or monthly if you're an average user).

I do it every 2 weeks myself, but I install and uninstall many programs when testing them out to see if they can be recommended and to help people who have problems with programs I don't already have installed (but don't care to keep permanently).

I hope this helps.

Good luck!
