Hello Ex_Brit, I am from Alberta by the way.

Thanks for the link, I just joined up and my first post was long with questions that didnt post (wasnt logged in).

I need Vista Home Premium 64 bit. This will save me from cloning just the factory partition with its bloat-ware from 2008 HP desktop to my new 120GB SSD-HD.

How safe is it to use this link?
A problem - I go to that link, under "Downloaded the Vista X64 or X86 setup files" in step 1 the download brings me to heidoc.net and its instructions. So nothing downloads, its just a link. Step 4 download link actually downloads files.

The link is completely safe as hundreds of people here will agree but I do need an email address. You can come back and edit it out later on. Vista has 2 service packs, this download will be for a Vista with SP2 ISO. Your own product key decides what version goes on to the machine. In your case Home Premium.

I received it, thanks for the links. I edited my previous post to erase my email address.
I got the ISO file on a USB. I went into BIOS and set the startup sequence to USB first.

Yeah, everything is working out pretty excellently, installed o/s easily, office went smooth, fixed my ethernet problem, now working through my CD/DVDs for the graphics card, monitor, router and printer.

Will save everything onto a USB stick and store it with the computer papers and disks.

Heck I even fixed my case with some Permatex Steel Weld.

If you want to wipe that hard drive leave it in, but all questions regarding USB drive booting should really go in that thread as I have no knowledge of USB booting.
No idea re: all that extra hardware. you should be asking that in a new thread, probably in General Discussion, but if your Windows license is for OEM then it wont activate on new hardware.
You could try calling Microsoft to activate but they may not allow it.

hello all have found a site with a zipped copy. took a great deal of searching also found Hp to have a few links to create your own with 3 download pieces(mine failed) with thhat process but found site with a supported cdownloaded unzipped imgburned product key and running again in a activated vista. One of the previous owners had bad copied 7 have spent over a month trying to find a vista. studying for a second open os since it was so hard to get clean install for the vista home basic. "get in topic " they are zipped, but it is running no issues and activated

Not sure that is a reliable source so please don't post any links. I offer a full genuine Vista w/SP2 included, x86 or x64, but will not post links because I don't want my Cloud storage abused.
If anyone wants a download link you'll have to post an email address for me to send the link to. Then you can edit it out afterwards.
A full OS by the way, occupies a DVD not a CD.
