I have put a copy of my Retail Vista disc on dropbox
It has all versions but you can only use the version that you have a key for.
It does not have any service packs on

I'm so grateful for this thread and all of the help that's being offered.

I need to reinstall Vista Home Basic 32 bit on a desktop PC. I downloaded the 3 files for Windows Vista Ultimate x86 SP1 available here: Windows Vista Direct Download Links. But when I try to open the .exe file to initiate installation, I get the following error message: "This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."

Can someone tell me what the problem may be and/or offer a solution?

Ah even better! Mine's only SP1. I was going to use Dropbox and post the link.

I hope I'm not breaking any Microsoft regulations by doing this, I think not as long as I don't give away any keys. Do Dropbox allow copyright uploads? Many such places don't and delete anything that is copyright. I was going to use TurboBit but not too sure about their reliability.

I'll post the URL once the file is uploaded (takes a while) and note it only stays on their servers for 7 days according to what I read. I used to use Megaupload but we all know what happened to them.

This is the x86, 32-bit one that is needed right?

Donna I'm doing an upload of an x86 Vista SP2 ISO. It takes a while to upload to the server so will post the URL once it completes.

It's a zip file which you will have to unzip, and then burn it to DVD media using a programme such as IMGBurn (free and very good) and then use that to boot from and install your OS. If this is a dual boot then it gets more complicated.

To Our Members trying to help by giving an ISO via dropbox
One of our helpful members, in the past, tried to help another by posting his dropbox link to download an ISO.
There were so many downloads that dropbox suspended his account for a month.

Well I'm afraid the file share site Turbobit deletes the file as soon as I upload it, tried 3 times. I guess they regard it as a copyright infringement although it really isn't unless accompanied by a key.

The other file share site charges too much for large file uploads, sorry. Now to try to get a refund on the premium service I just had to pay for!!

Thanks Donna, let's hope someone has a suggestion. It would have been best for you to have the SP2 iso as then all you'd need to install are updates since then.

Dropbox would be fine if you just PM Donna the link You have 20GB/day of bandwidth which is more than enough to transfer this file.
